    Description

This is a 1602 Scotland Thistle Merk, James VI (8th Coinage), .916 Silver Hammered Coin in Circulated/Cleaned Condition. This coin has some obvious signs of wear and harsher cleaning as well as areas of darkness and green corrosion or something along the outer legends. There are also a handful of what looks like scratches or cracks under the left thistle arm. There are still some decent details left on the coin and a full date; however, the cleaning does hold it back a bit. It almost looks like the coin was dipped at some point as well to try and remove whatever environmental damage were on the coin in past (there are faint cleaning marks around the centers of the obverse and reverse--very hard to capture on camera). The coin weighs 6.42g and basically the size of a United States Half Dollar in diameter.
