    Description

    Book Description:  William Armstrong,
Five-Minute Sermons to Children. Delivered Weekly in the Methodist-Episcopal Churches of Holley, N. Y. and East Bloomfield, N. Y. During the Years 1880-1885.
New York: Hunt and Eaton. Cincinnati: Cranston and Stowe:1887, 203 pages. First Edition. Decorated cover in black on light brown. Owner’s name on front endpaper. Last few pages crinkled and slightly torn along margins. Slight cracking to front hinge. Overall, however, in very good condition. The idea for this book began in 1862 when the author was stationed in Hector, New York. His goal was to get students from his Sunday School Class to attend church. He did so by devising a series of short sermons, which proved to be successful.  There are 100 such sermons here, but the intended audience for this book is for other ministers to help guide them in similar efforts.
