    Condition: Good
    Brought to the u.s.a. in extremely rusty condition,
    this 1914 BSA single was restored to its present as-
    original condition by T. A. Hodgdon, President of BSA,
    Incorporated, the Eastern factory branch of BSA, Birm-
    ingham, England. This model was widely used by dis-
    patch riders in World War I and there is reason to be-
    lieve this very machine was so used. All equipment and
    finish details are restored to their authentic original
    condition.
    Four coats of brilliant black enamel were applied over
    a rustproof preparation and bright parts wete heavily
    plated and polished. Specifications are: 557 cubic centi-
    meter, side valve, 85mm bore x 98mm stroke, magneto
    ignition, with a ball bearing mounted crankshaft. Trans-
    mission is three-speed, handshift with a multiple disc
    metal-to-metal clutch built into gearbox housing. Tires
    are size 26" x 2.5 three-ply Dunlop. Brakes are of the
    belt rim type with hand operation on the front, foot pedal
    on the rear.
