antique carved wood Bible book jewelry box **MAGNIFICIENT**

Description

This is a very beautiful and elaborate hand crafted wood antique Bible box.  All I can say is look at the pictures and don't let your jaw drop like on the commercials.  Smaller size for on top of a desk or dresser.  Outer dimensions from edges of lions' feet: 11 1/2" wide X 8 3/4" deep & 8" tall (including protruding crown).  Inner box dimensions (compensating as best as possible for the padding): 8 1/2" wide X 5 3/4" deep & 2" tall.  Found no manufacturer markings.   I'm not an expert on types of wood but thinking it's walnut.  As for age I can only guess so yours is as good as mine...looking at the craftsmanship and style plus the brass hardware and inner padding, I'm thinking mid to late 1800's.  I wouldn't be surprised if it was made for use in a church or a very wealthy person of the time.  It will need a furniture pad (spacer) under the left front foot (left foot in 1st. picture) to sit flat, a few pads will be included.  Last picture shows the build up of dust & debris in the crevices which occurred over the years.  This is a real piece to admire.  Free shipping to lower 48 states
