Description
Self-Pronouncing Edition of The Holy Bible containing The Old and New Testaments. Translated out of the original tongues, with the former translations diligently compared and revised. Conformable to the edition of 1611, commonly known as the Authorized or King James Version.The Workd Syndicate Publishing Co. Cleveland, Ohio and New York, New York.
The mottled black book cover appears to be leather and has “Holy Bible” embossed in gold-colored lettering on front cover and spine. There is no date printed but I would estimate this is from the late 1910’s or early 1920’s. Printed in the USA.
The paper edges are gilded but has dulled with age.
Title page is inscribed in ink as Presented “To: Mrs. B. Greene from Marion Hulms.” Pencil notations on back endpage says “Married 1912 9th November. Fernwood Lot Section 3 - 698. Register book page 221”. There is the number “649” printed on last page.
There are 15 tinted color prints in the front of the Bible including: Christ the Good Shepherd, Rebecca, Rachel’s Tomb, Ruth and Naomi, Daniel in the Den of Lions, Frieze of Prophets, The Arrival of the Shepherds, The Son of a Carpenter, “Mary Hath Chosen the Better Part”, Christ Going Through the Wheat Field, Christ and the Fisherman, Among the Lowly, The Lost Sheep and Laborers in the Plain of Esdraelon”.
Condition is pre-owned. The edges of the front and back covers and spine have bent over time and formed over the shape of the interior pages. The edges and corners have some creasing and small tears. No major damage. Interior pages are good with occasional creasing and some light foxing. No other writing or highlighting in the Bible. Please zoom all photos for condition details.
