Bomb Disposal Units Green Back Patch WWII Vintage White Outline on Bomb

The Patch:  This auction is for
One WWII Original Bomb Disposal Units patch with a green back.  There is a white outline on the bomb on this variation.
This patch is in good condition.  It has a very nice green backing.  This patch does not glow under the UV light and is guaranteed to be authentic.
The History:
This insignia was approved by the Services of Supply on September 28, 1942.
It was approved for wear by all bomb disposal personnel including the bomb disposal schools and companies.
The Ordnance branch of service was given the mission of disposing of unexploded ordnance and training bomb disposal personnel.
In January of 1942, a school was started at the Aberdeen Proving Ground,
Maryland
.
With the help of the British, eight courses were developed by the end of the year.
Personnel who wore the red bomb worked endless hours in liberated
Europe
and received no extra compensation for their hazardous duty, where their first mistake was often their last.

Some of these patches have been used. If an item is listed as used it may be sewn on, have some dirt on it or have loose threads. I try not to post items with excessive wear because I want you to get good quality items. I try to post good photos of each item but they get shrunk down when they appear in the listing. If you have any questions about condition, please ask me. I can email you the original photo and can make larger scans if you give me enough time. Please ask. I will be happy to give you as much information as I can about an item so that you can make an informed decision about the item before bidding.
