KM 728, nine year type, issued during the reign of Queen Victoria. Small (12mm) silver coin, with the queen on the obverse.
This denomination (sometimes called "3 half pence") was issued for use in British colonies--Ceylon and in the West Indies; it was not intended to circulate in the British Isles.  However, since the colonies are not named and the designs are similar to homeland coins, the coins are often collected along with homeland types.
