Description
Weighing in at a whopping two ounces, this is indeed the Lincoln Continental of copper coins. (The 1960 Lincoln Continental was the heaviest automobile ever made.) You will not find a chunkier, more monumental circulation coin anywhere. In 1797 an ounce of copper cost 1 penny. These beasts were made to contain their actual metal value. In theory it was a cool idea. In practice, as circulation coinage they were violently unpopular as they often tore through peoples' pockets. This piece has fewer dings and dents, and smoother nicer surfaces than you typically see – premium quality for the grade. Also the rotated die adds additional appeal.
