Description
NewToshiba model BA2160B class A broad-band RF power amplifier with 1dB bandwidth of 23.5 to 26.5GHz and a min. P1 power of 27dBm when operated with Vdd of 5.0V and Vgg of -2.0V as specified by manufacturer.
Laboratory tests with this type of amplifier showed that increasing the Vdd to 6.0V while lowering the Vgg to -1.7V produces a min. of 30dBm (1 Watt). This is not specified by the manufacturer and may damage the amplifiier if the waveguide output is not impedance matched correctly.
Power gain on this amplifier greater than 36dB so the required input drive is less than 0dBm for full output.
Vdd supply current is typically 750mA and will increase to 1.3A if you operate as laboratory tests mentioned above for the 30dBm power.
Vgg is only 4mA and must be powered first.
The WR-34 flanges bolt up directly to WR-42 waveguide or adapters with very good performance. An isolator is recommended at high power operation to protect the amplifier output against mismatch.
Size: 3.15 x 1.50 x 0.79 inches or 80 x 38 x 20mm
Weight: 60 grams
The high power linear amplifier may be used in radar, TV, Audio and Data link applications.
