Description
ORIGINAL US CHINA WWII WW2 CBI BLOOD CHIT, MIS-X,TYPE 2!This is a rayon “Type 2 MIS-X Chit” and a picture of an identical one is shown on page 105 of the book “Last Hope: The Blood Chit Story” by R.E Baldwin.
MIS-X was a secretive US agency tasked with providing support to POWs and other American soldiers evading capture in enemy territory. There is no number 2 in the lower right corner indicating this is an earlier printing. The use of "W" serial numbers indicates that it was issued in Washington, D.C.
This original WW2 Chinese blood chit was issued to my father who was a torpedo bomber pilot in the pacific during WW2.
He was with 2 different squadrons, the first was VT-27 and flew off the carrier Suwannee during the Solomon Islands campaign in the South Pacific (December 1942 to August 1943). The second squadron was VT81, “The Uninvited” and flew off of the carrier “Wasp” during the Central Pacific campaign (November 1944 to March 1945)
This one has a serial number W39595 which is a relatively low number given that over 200,000 were produced.
Excellent condition. Creases can be steamed out for framing.
These are rarely offered on E Bay and almost never in this condition.
Rarer still is the fact that this can be traced back to its original pilot and squadron.
Please note: RETURNS ARE NOT ACCEPTED so bid accordingly.
