    Single sheet format, double-sided printing: 12.75” x 8” (32.2 cm x 20.3 cm)
    This original and authentic, printed manuscript page dates to the early 17
    th
    century and documents a treatise by Pope Clement VIII (1592—1605).
    The single page was printed in a very wide, single column on both sides of the large, folio-sized page.
    It appears to have been bound on the left side in a larger folio or manuscript binding.
    This is an original document (not a copy or a reprint) that is over 400 years old!
    The document is printed is printed almost entirely in black ink, with only the title and the initial letter “C” that is beautifully illuminated on the first line in red ink.
    The single leaf is printed on laid paper that measures about 12.75” x 8” and also appears to be watermarked on the left edge with a Catholic cross.
    The document is entitled:
    Ad Perpetvam Rei Memo
    riam or in my admittedly poor Latin translation “A Perpetual Memorial” or “
    The Perpetual Memory.”
    {My high school Latin teacher from 1965-66 would be ashamed of me —sorry Mrs. Beard.}
    The document’s last line is followed by the printed name of the Pope Clement VIII Secretary, M. Veftrius Barbianus:
    Datum Romae apud Sanctum Marcum sub Annulo Piscatoris die Vii, Iulij, M.D.C. iii. Pontisicatus nostri anno Xiii.
    “Given at Rome, at St Mark's under the Ring of the Fisherman on the seventh day, July 1603. Our Pontificate’s 13
    th
    year.”
    M. Veftrius Barbianus
    {The Pope’s Secretary}
    This large, early 17
    th
    century printed folio leaf would look super framed!
    It is very clean and crisp with only minor age toning.
