THE FRAME
: Solid walnut with a gold filet & corner ornaments, incised curlicues on each of the four sides, assembled w/ square cut nails from the period;
Overall frame size: 17.5" x 20.5"
Frame window: 12.5" x 15.5"
FRAME CONDITION
: Scuffs & mars to the wood, black paint & gold filet; there is one clean drilled hole in the center top where this must have been affixed to a wall; reverse as illustrated
THE ARTWORK
: Appears to be a print, over-painted with gold paint, tempera(?) and/or watercolor(?) - but hand-painted never-the-less; toning where the frame meets the paper
