INFORMATION BELOW REGARDING THIS ARTIST:
Ramón Sunyer Clará
(Barcelona 1889-1963).
He learned the trade at the Francisco de A. Galí school and at the workshop of his father, the also goldsmith Josep Sunyer y Parera.
He was one of the most prominent representatives of the Novecentista goldsmith.
His style was strongly influenced by the popular Catalan baroque, but he evolved to create his own style, known as the Sunyer style.
He also excelled in liturgical art.
He founded the School of Arts and Crafts of the Commonwealth and also other groups such as the Friends of Liturgical Art and the Friends of Gaudí.
He was related to the Friends of Poetry and the Catalan Society for Historical Studies.
He was president of the Artistic Circle of Sant Lluc.
Outstanding works: Commemorative medal of the Liturgical Congress of Montserrat (1916), Portapaz of the abbey of Montserrat,
Side reliefs of the throne of the Virgin of Montserrat (1947) (executed by Joaquim Ros).
