Also, starting around 1980, NSS quit putting tags on posters. And as well most, but not all movie posters before approximately the late ‘70s, most movie posters were folded. The ones that were rolled, not folded, are called ‘studio style’ movie posters and are original and were distributed by the studios to different companies for promotional purposes. As seen by a quick search on Google, a movie poster can be before 1980, have an NSS number, and be folded, and GAU stamp and still not be original. As well as there seems to be plenty of argument over whether the measurements are 27X40 or 27X41.
My posters measure 27X41 and even though the original ‘Where Eagles Dare’ movie came out in 1968, I see these dated 1973, similar to mine, and based on where I got them and have owned them for well over several decades, I’m confident that I can call these original movie posters. They do not have the NSS stamp, but they do have the GAU (union) stamp. Pixilation appears not digital, so it looks good under a loupe and posters appear to have the approximate light, light toning not pure white like the reprints I see all over eBay.
